Starquest comes out of Big Time Gaming and it is a slot machine that they’ve announced for release on October 5th, 2016. The game was designed with a special ways to win system in place, which BTG has used once or twice before.
The theme is inspired by some kind of space cop story, with a woman dressed the part, wearing a space suit and holding a laser gun.
The game relies on up to 117,649 megaways, it has wild symbols and respins, and that’s about it for its features. There are 6 reels here, with up to 7 symbols in each case.
What We Love
The type of theme and some of the design which was used, I actually enjoyed. I’m talking about the retro science fiction vibe that you get from this slot machine, and which can be a big plus for it. It’s not handled well overall though, since most of the symbols are just poker cards or gemstones.
The one symbol that looks good is the one that gets the female astronaut, an expanding wild that will take over entire reels. The Megaways system is not new, but it’s not that easy to find either. It’s a feature introduced by Starquest, which relies on ways to win, but it uses them differently.
The reels in this game have a varying number of symbols, so naturally the number of megaways will vary as well. There are 6 reels instead of 5, with 1 to 7 symbols present on each one. You can get as many as 117,649 Megaways, but you can also have just a few hundred or thousand.
An expanding wild, which has a multiplier that goes from 1x to 5x, can appear and occupy entire reels. The presence of such a wild in a winning combo will trigger a respin, which will continue for as long as you get new wins. The wild stays locked in place, and it has an increasing multiplier each respin.
You start at just 1x, but you can get up to 5x. If a new wild appears, it will have its own increasing multiplier, so at the same time on the reels you might have wilds which multiply payouts by 1x, 3x and 5x, to give an example. The multipliers are added together, so the more you have, the better.
What We Do Not Like
The graphics are a disappointment overall, mostly where the poker letters or gemstones are involved. Otherwise, it’s a fairly decent looking game.
The features are the ones that make all the difference in this case, and I would recommend you try the slot out because of them.
