Frozen Inferno, a game which was created by developers from WMS, has two sides to it, one frozen, the other in flames.
The Frozen and the Inferno modes which are used by the game will each come with its own set of features and symbols, though they’re not as different from one another as we might’ve liked. In Frozen Inferno, the theme is related to the world of magic, though obviously there are two sides to it.
Depending on the one you choose at the beginning of the game, you will get the frozen or the incendiary symbols, colored in blue or in red. This is a game with 40 paylines, 5 reels, plus payouts of up to $1,250.
What We Love
I’ve seen better designed slot machines out there, but that doesn’t mean that Frozen Inferno is not a good game to try out. It has a magic inspired theme which mixes the fire and the ice sides rather well, each one getting its own set of symbols, similar ones but colored differently.
You should be getting a fairly adequate system of gameplay, with the different features allowing you to enjoy different sides of the game. I enjoyed the fact that there were no poker cards in the game, or the fact that the symbols look fairly good.
The two sides of the game, the Frozen and the Inferno, are picked at the start of the game, at a point where you have to choose between them. The thing that sets them apart, besides the color which is used for the symbols, is the presence of a certain type of wild.

The Frozen Wild is reserved for the Frozen side of the game, obviously, and it’s going to involve having a substitute symbol locked in place on the reels. It will stay there for as long as you’re playing this slot machine, even bringing you additional wilds which can be locked in place, in certain conditions.
The Roving Wild is given to you during the Inferno side of the slot. It’s a symbol which acts as a wild and which will move by one position during each spin. The advantage is that it could go to one of the first two reels as well, instead of just being stuck on the third one.
There are also Ice Bonus and Fire Bonus symbols, each one reserved for the game mode that they were created for. With the help of these symbols, you can get free spins. It’s supposed to be an unlimited number of free games, but the feature ends after up to five wins are awarded to you.
What We Do Not Like
The design is missing something. Though well enough done, it’s not some great accomplishment on Microgaming’s part, so some extra work on it could’ve helped.
Worth Playing?
Frozen Inferno has an unusual gameplay style, with features that should be interesting for a while, while payouts tend to be on the low side.
