WMS Surprises Us With Dancing in Rio Slot Machine

Dancing in Rio slot logoWMS, or Williams Interactive as it is also known, is the developer that gives us Dancing in Rio, a game that is based on the famous Rio de Janeiro Carnival and its Samba dancers.

You see those beautiful women dancing and dressed in their feathery outfits if you look at the major symbols, but you will also discover a fairly interesting set of features here.

Those can bring you scatters, free spins, wild symbols, but there are also ways for you to get progressive jackpots while playing this slot. You will have the opportunity to place bets on 40 paylines, which are used on 5 reels.

What We Love

WMS doesn’t put too much effort into the non-themed parts of their designs, meaning in the poker cards, but at least they do great with the other areas, the ones which actually are connected. The dancers, masks and logos which are inspired by the carnival are all very well done, and you will find that they make up for a lot.

Something else to pay attention to in this game is the color of the background, the one from behind the symbols. All five reels can get green backgrounds behind symbols, but the last one can also show them in red.

If you manage to land full reels covered by certain colors, you can form combinations from the triggering backgrounds, and get paid quite well in the process. For example, getting three neighboring reels colored in green will get you a prize.

Four of them will do even better with the payout, and five green ones will take stakes even higher. It’s the combo of four green reels and one red reel that will pay the most though.

If you spot the logo of the game making an appearance on the reels, it means that you just got the wild to show up, and hopefully it will be in a position from where it can help form some new paying combo. Substituting symbols are only allowed on four reels, the last ones, so they will not form a combo and pay you directly.

There is also the matter of the free spins, a feature which has for you 10, 20 or 50 rounds, along with prizes which can get to 5x the bet value. The scatter symbol which gives you the free spins is the one with the Mask.

What We Do Not Like

The design, though it has its good sides, feels unfinished somehow, at least if you look at the poker icons which take over much of the reel space.

Worth Playing?

Dancing in Rio will give you a very good set of features, some impressive top payouts thanks to certain features, but the graphics are not entirely convincing.
