Spectra looks like a game that attempts to show off an 80s style of science fiction design. The symbols are very simple ones, showing either classic icons or geometric shapes.
The way they are designed is the part that’s different, as you get only the colored outlines in each case, none of the details on the inside, where the color is black.
Some say that it’s a look that is similar to the one shown in Tron, a science fiction film where the action took place inside a computer generated world. It feels much simpler than that for me.
The company that is behind this game is called Thunderkick. 30 pay lines are used each round, and 5 reels are going to spin each time you pay the price. At best, the biggest prize possible seems to reach $2,000.
What We Love
Spectra has a look that will appeal to players which enjoy minimalism. Each symbol has just its outline, of a different color in each case, while the inside area is completely black.
Symbols arrive stacked, so a nice effect can form up, with multiple symbols of the same color grouped on each reel, hopefully as many as possible of the same type being on all the columns. There is a lot of black as well in the design, but I didn’t find it to be a problem, on the contrary.
The only big feature offered inside comes from a wild symbol. It’s going to be a stacked wild, coming in groups of four icons. Since no other features are used, the wild has no limits to the symbols it can replace, it works with all combinations.

The respins are activated when a wild stack appears during a spin. The stacked symbol remains in place, and the rest of the reels spin again. The stacks of wilds will be nudged during each respin, moved towards the center by one position.
The same wild symbols can also pay you, up to $2,000 being offered for the right combo of five. You don’t get anything if there are three or four wilds on a line, only five will offer a prize. In the other situations, they will simply act as substitutes for others.
What We Do Not Like
The game keeps things simple in every single area, from the prizes it can offer, to features and even graphics. It feels like a bit too much minimalism if that’s possible, or not enough in this case, as in not enough meat on the bones.
Worth Playing?
Spectra can be an enjoyable game, but I’m not sure how much fun it can be in the long run.
