Frogged is a slot machine which is offered by Rival Gaming, and even though it’s released in 2016, the theme it uses is based on an 80s arcade title, on Frogger to be more specific. The aim in Frogger was to help a little frog cross a road with heavy traffic on it.

You could move the frog in four directions, trying to place it in the empty spots on the road, until finally you could cross the road with it. The more you advanced through this game, the harder it became to do that.

Konami was the name of the company that created Frogger back in the 80s, and Sega was the distributor for it. The game doesn’t pay a lot of money, up to $1,875, and it has a setup with 5 reels and 20 bet lines.

What We Love

One of the things to love about this slot machine is the quality of the design. Though trying to mimic the kind of look that might’ve been used for an arcade game of the time, Frogged manages to look like a game from 2016 at the same time, just one that happens to be themed around a retro title.

There are plenty of symbols which look well polished, even though they’re not very realistic, but there are also playing cards which have pixels showing at the edges, a nice touch and done in a way that still keeps the slot attractive.

An important symbol in this slot would be the one which has the Frog on it. This symbol is an expanding wild, but a special one, which can only do it upwards.

The appearance of such a wild on a reel, in a position that isn’t at the very top, will trigger an expansion towards the symbols found above it. The lower on the reel the wild is, the more wild symbols you can have on it.

Bulldozers are the ones to take on the role of the scatter symbols. Whenever such symbols appear on the reels, the player will get a reward consisting of free spins. You need a minimum of three Bulldozers, in any position they land in, that part doesn’t matter.

What We Do Not Like

I’m not impressed with the top jackpot of the game, which at 750x is extremely low, even though it doubles to 1,500x with a wild helping during free spins.

There are plenty of things to love about Frogged, but if a big payout is important to you, this is not the game to play.
