In Peek-a-Boo, the creator of the slot (Microgaming) appears to have been inspired by the Ghostbusters franchise, but without actually getting the license for it. Instead, what we have here is a game where a kid has a ghostbuster costume, armed with a gun that looks like it’s a toy, with ghosts appearing on the reels and with various types of candy used for the lower paying symbols.
All in all, it looks like a Halloween title, one of the many released to be played in that period of the year. It offers a number of paylines which would be considered on the high end, a total of 40 of them being available to you. There are payouts of up to $10,000 inside.
What We Love
The game is different from most slot machines which go for the ghost/scary theme. While it incorporates a couple of scary looking ghosts among its symbols, for the most part the game is more cute than anything else. You’re not going to see any playing cards on its reels, something I always appreciate in a game. Instead, Peek-a-Boo replaced them with about five symbols with Halloween candy in them.
I also enjoyed the various features which were part of Peek-a-Boo. The wild would be the more easy to understand one, being the usual substitute for regular symbols, but also appearing stacked in the base game and super stacked during free spins. It’s also your way to the $10,000 jackpot.
The other major feature I’d recommend you watch out for is the free spins feature. Getting it to activate is done differently than in other slots. You have to zap ghosts, like a Ghostbuster would. You do this by landing the Ghostbuster icon on the 3rd reel. When that happens, one ghost from each reel that hosts them is zapped and collected in the Ghost Meter you see on the right side of the reels. You need only 10 ghosts to get the free spins to start, but you can have up to 13, for just as many rounds.

What We Do Not Like
Like it’s usually the case in slot machines which have a lot of paylines or way to win, the top jackpots aren’t that high. You can get at most 1,000 times the line bet from a single combo, but thanks to the stacked ability of the wild there is a chance that you will get paid multiple times in the same round.
Worth Playing?
The game does plenty of things well, mostly noticeable when you’re looking at the features it includes. The design looks OK, but it’s not going to overwhelm you. It’s worth a shot, but probably more so if you’re anywhere close to Halloween or if you’re a fan of Ghostbusters.
