Based on what we can see among the symbols, this is either a classic inspired game, or one that uses geometry for inspiration.

Those are the two main categories that you can put its symbols in. On one hand, we get things like golden bells, like 7s, clovers or the Bar logo.

On the other hand, there are the images of geometric shapes, with circles, squares and diamonds drawn in there. The symbols are all outlined with colorful lines, but the inside is typically an empty black. There is a bit of an 80s style of science fiction in its design.

Behind the reels and all around the game area, you get the impression that the action takes place in space, and when you spin the reels you will see the stars how they move closer to you, like you were traveling towards them.

Developer 

Thunderkick created Spectra, and this is one of the 15 or 16 games that they’ve released so far. The company has only new games on the market, since they haven’t been around for that long, so naturally you can expect them all to look great, something that can’t be claimed about the older slots from the bigger developers.

Thunderkick appears to be trying to show off in its games, doing things differently and creating designs that look appealing.

How To Play It

All games offered by Thunderkick come with fixed lines, the only thing left up to the player being the total bet which will be used. It will start from a minimum value of $0.10 and it will go up to $100 at most.

The game has 30 win lines total, but there is no option to set individual line bets, you just work with the total and it is the one considered when the jackpot is evaluated.

It’s a very simple looking game, but at the same time it’s much more colorful than you’d expect it to be, especially since most of it is in black. The various colorful outlines for the symbols improve its look significantly.

Special Features 

You will want to pay attention to a W Logo, which is sometimes going to appear on the reels. Like the other symbols of the game, it will be stacked and it will occupy at most four positions on a reel.

Used as a regular wild, it will be capable of forming combinations with other symbols, when it substitutes for one of them. As its own symbol, combinations which pay $2,000 are possible, but only when all the positions of the line have wilds on them.

The wild does a few other things for you, starting with the Respin feature which it triggers. The respins will continue for as long as you get new wild symbols on the reels. At the same time, the wild stack which isn’t fully visible will be nudged towards the center of its reel, until it touches it.

Maximum Payouts 

While the biggest prize available will be at only $2,000, you have to keep in mind that stacks of symbols generally mean that you will get paid multiple times during the rounds that do have wins for you. There is a theoretical RTP of 96.4% here, so it should be a pretty normal slot machine in terms of payouts.

Summary 

Spectra is not going to be a game that a lot of players will love, at least I don’t see the attraction in its design, but I’m sure that there will be some that will enjoy its minimalist approach.
