There isn’t much of a mystery where the theme of Skulls of Legend is concerned. The major theme comes from the pirates, and from the treasures they owned, or the lifestyle they led.

Quite a few developers have focused on this topic already, so the symbols chosen for this slot machine aren’t surprises anymore.

You will encounter parrots, pirates and weapons, but there will be a couple of less impressive poker icons as well. It’s not a cheerful design, more of a dark one, but both looks can work if properly designed.

Developer 

The creator of Skulls of Legend is called iSoftBet, and it’s a company from UK which seems to have been created in the last few years, probably in 2010.

They have a large enough collection of games right now, some of them interesting and branded, others using themes that can be found at plenty of other companies. The slots with a branded theme seem to come from older titles, movies from the 80s and TV series from the 90s for the most part.

How To Play It

30 pay lines are used each round, a fixed number that can’t be modified by the player. There will naturally be 30 coins in the bet, and the part that’s left up to you is only the denomination of the coins. It starts from $0.01, and can be taken up to $0.20. The maximum bet seems to be $6, while the minimum one is at $0.30.

I’ve found this to be a very entertaining game, using a well known theme but a fun one nonetheless. The graphics are excellent, though there are some areas where more work would’ve been appreciated, and naturally I’m talking about the low paying icons.

Special Features 

Two special symbols are placed on the reels, one a wild, the other a scatter. The wild’s image is that of the Skull of Legend, which appears to be made out of some sort of crystal. Don’t expect any prizes to be given away through this wild, but you can at least use it as a replacement for another symbol.

The wild also has one extra power, which you can take advantage of in time, as you get it to land multiple times on the same reel. The wilds get collected underneath the reel, and with four of them there you will be given a sticky expanded wild, occupying that particular column for the next four spins.

Next, we have the Sail Ship, a scatter symbol which can appear anywhere in view, and which you can rely on to get the slot’s better payouts, as well as some free spins. 3+ Ships will give you a feature with one of four types of free spins.

The No Quarter Free Spins give you 15 rounds, with 1 to 5 symbols being turned at random, into extra wilds. With the Storm Free Spins, there are 14 rounds available, with a winning combination offered for the losing spins, the symbols rearranging themselves.

The third one is the Compass Free Spins, where wild symbols are offered, in the direction of the arrows from a compass. The fourth and final feature is from the Barrel Free Spins, 7 rounds available, with wild symbols added each round and sticking around for 3 spins.

This would be the side that I’m less happy about, 2,250 coins appearing to be the best reward available, with a value of up to $450.

Summary
