Theme of The Game
The title of the game refers to the popular Irish story about a leprechaun that has a pot of gold hidden, and the location ends up being signaled by the end of a rainbow, the place where it supposedly touches the earth. It’s a popular topic for many developers, and you will discover dozens of similar slot machines, at least as far as the theme idea is concerned.
There aren’t as many other images related to the Irish as in other slots, and the game actually has a limited number of symbols, many of them playing cards which are on the simple side. The feature symbols are mostly the ones with a connection to the theme.
Developer
Barcrest is no beginner when it comes to slot machines. This developer was founded almost half a century ago, in 1968, and they’ve started out with slot machines for the pubs in UK. They were bought by IGT back in 1998, and then they were acquired in 2011 by Scientific Games.
They have their share of famous slot machines, including Rainbow Riches, but also Monty’s Millions. Many of their titles are dated by now, and Rainbow Riches Pick and Mix is one of them.
How To Play It
The game has a different interface than other slots, so it might take you a couple of seconds to find the options that you’re used to having at the bottom of the screen. In this case, the stake per line and two displays related to the wager are shown on the left side of the screen, vertically.
You can take the stake per line up to $25, which would mean a bet of up to $500 total. The minimum total bet is $0.20 ($0.01 per line). You have a couple of displays at the bottom, and then there are a few buttons on the right side (Paytable, Spin, Auto).
I’m not a fan of the interface chosen for the game. It’s different from the one from other slots, but without a good reason.
The design is far from impressive as well, sporting a look that might’ve looked good about 10 years ago, but not today. Add the fact that the majority of the symbols used are playing cards, and I’m struggling to find good things to say about the slot’s graphics.

Special Features
The game starts with a choice that you have, to pick which bonus games you want access to as you play. There are five types of features to choose from. You can pick three, or you can pick only one, these are the only options available. If you choose only one feature, then you will see it often on the reels.
Road to Riches is a bonus game, which triggers when the symbol with the close-up of the Leprechaun is scattered in three or four spots on the reels.
Pots of Gold triggers with its own 3-4 scatter symbols, and it involves a feature with a wheel of fortune. Depending on the color of the pot that you get (bronze, silver or gold), you get a cash prize from it.
Magic Toadstool rewards you with a picking bonus feature, three options being offered, to be made on the 24 toadstools shown on the screen. You can get Fairies (additional mushrooms revealed with more prizes) or Multipliers (to be used on the line bet as a prize).
Cash Crop is the fourth bonus feature, with the Leprechaun shown in it again. It’s a simple feature, with cash prizes offered based on the result of some spins.
The fifth and final type of bonus you can get is actually a round with free spins. Should you land 3, 4 or 5 such symbols, marked Free Spins, you win 10, 20 or 30 free games.
Maximum Payouts
The best symbol used here has the Rainbow Riches logo and it can pay up to 500 times the stake per line. This means at most $12,500 cash.
Summary
The only really good thing about this slot machine is the possibility of picking your own bonus features. Otherwise, it doesn’t have too many pros, mostly cons.
