Theme of The Game
Despite the lack of any images from the original movie, the Ghostbusters films appear to have served as inspiration for Peek-a-Boo. In them, a team of Ghostbusters used specialized equipment to capture ghosts and other apparitions.
The same basic idea was used by Microgaming for Peek-a-Boo, but the hero here is a kid dressed as a Ghostbuster and holding a plastic toy gun. The ghosts look real enough though. The action takes place at Halloween, as evidenced by the presence of lots of symbols with candy on them.
Developer
Founded in 1996, Microgaming was the first company to create slot machines designed to be played online, and they’ve been making games for this market ever since. They have 500 to 600 slot machines right now.
Some of them are great, modern and with features that innovate and make things more fun, while others are older looking and are in bad need for an upgrade. Vegas Paradise and Jackpot Paradise are two very good casinos where you can find their slot machines.
How To Play It
All the buttons and betting options are accessible from the usual place, most of them being placed at the bottom of the screen. The only one that’s in a different spot is the paytable button, called Pays and being in the top right corner.
To place your bet, look at the Bet section. There are two ways to use it. You can just increase or decrease the total bet, or you can click on the title of the section (on Bet), to get a bit more control over what you’re doing. From there, you can adjust the number of coins that will be used on each line and their denomination.
It is a good looking game, but the kid that is the hero and the presence of the candy might not make it an appropriate choice for someone that loves truly scary games. There are more pieces of candy than there are ghosts, but, at least, the latter actually look a little bit scary.

Special Features
The most common feature in a modern game would be the wild symbol. The typical way it comes in is as a regular icon, one symbol at a time. In this case, the game will place up to three wilds on a single reel, the symbols coming in groups of three while appearing in the base game.
The odds of getting a combo formed just out of wilds are much better, plus there are good odds that you actually trigger multiple jackpots in the same round. Most of the time you’re just going to notice that the Peek-a-Boo logo is a substitute for another symbol, acting as a bit of a joker would in a card game.
The other major feature available here is also a typical find for a modern slot machine, but the difference is in the way it is triggered. You will need the Ghostbuster Kid to show up on the 3rd reel, and if that happens you will see him zap a ghost symbol from each reel that holds at least one.
The zapped ghosts are stored in a Ghost Meter, shown on the right side at all times. Once you get to 10+ stored ghosts, the free spins trigger. Up to 13 free games are awarded, during which you get super stacked wilds, for even better chances of getting the jackpot.
Maximum Payouts
A combination with five Peek-a-Boo logos in it will offer you the best possible payout, giving you 1,000 times what the line bet was.
The best payout offered by a single combo is worth $10,000. It’s not a lot, but since the stacked wilds give you a chance to trigger multiple top jackpots at once, it will do.
Summary
The game has its own audience and it’s more likely to be played at certain times during the year, meaning at Halloween.
I like my games truly scary, not cute scary, so I’d pass on it since it doesn’t offer anything truly out of the ordinary.
