China has inspired a lot of new slot machines, theme wise at least, and one of the popular themes that developers will often resort to is that of the wildlife that you can find in that country.
Specifically, I’m talking about the Panda Bear, a creature that is famous worldwide and which can be seen in a major role in this game.
The bamboo forest where such a creature would live is visible in the area behind the reels, the columns being placed in a frame made out of bamboo tied with rope at the corners.
The symbols chosen for Panda King will include a Panda Bear, obviously, but there will also be images of boring poker cards, along with more appropriate Chinese gold coins, lotus flowers, waterfalls, Yin Yang signs, Chinese pagodas and a Chinese gold ingot.
Ainsworth, a company based in Australia, will offer a fairly large collection of games for offline use, in regular casinos, but the move to the online market has been made as well.
They certainly have the experience to make a great game, it’s just that they don’t seem to do that well with the design of their slot machines, not when you’re dealing with online audiences, which are much more used to great graphics.
Eagle Bucks and Dragon Lines are two examples of similar games, with good features but average graphics, which they released.
How To Play It
You have a setup of 5 reels/3 rows of symbols, with 20 lines and with bets that can be anywhere between $0.20 and $2,000, the line bets accepting as little as $0.01, or as much as $100.
I don’t usually enjoy the design of the games that Ainsworth produces, and the same is the case here, even though some of the symbols do look very well polished and appropriate for the theme.
T&Cs Apply 18+
One of the two features you’re going to look forward to, the wild symbol, is the one that is represented by the image of the Panda Bear.
Have it appear on a line that is active, and with the rest of the required matching symbols, and you will get a new win through the combo that is formed. Like in every other game which uses wilds on all five reels, these symbols are capable of getting combinations formed directly, and they pay up to 1,000x if that happens.
The Yin Yang sign is next, the slot’s scatter, and the way for you to land a top payout of 100x the bet. It’s the best payout that you can get in this game, and the symbol is also the one that will deliver to you the free spins. Having 3+ Yin Yang logos scattered will get you a feature where you pick the number of free spins that you want active.
The reason for the choice is that the 8 to 12 free spins will come with 3 to 5 symbols which will be replaced with Panda wilds on the middle reels. Wild symbols are only allowed on the middle reels during the free spins.
It’s not a great payout, at only 100 times the bet, even though its value can reach $200,000 thanks to the large bets possible in the game.
Panda King has a pretty average theme, a decent design that doesn’t stand out among newer games launched these days, and features which look interesting, but that’s it.
