King Kong

Theme of The Game

king kong nextgen logoThe story of King Kong is a well known one, at least to those of us that grew up with Hollywood movies. The first King Kong movie was released in the 30s, and then it was remade in the 70s, and once again in 2005. In each case, the story was the same one.

A group of film makers arrives to Skull Island, a place where gigantic dinosaurs and other animals still exist. They capture a monster that resembles a giant gorilla, and which is called King Kong by the inhabitants of the island.

They want to take it to New York, and advertise it as the Eighth Wonder Of the World. The monster escapes once he arrives in New York, and does a lot of damage to the city. He is eventually killed.

Developer

The creator of this slot machine is called NextGen, and they are part of the NYX group these days. A creator of slot machines, NextGen has a variety of slot machines on offer, some of them original (James Dean, La Cucaracha, Medusa, Judge Dredd) others done with themes which are fairly popular among other developers as well (Wild West, A Dragons Story, Emperors Garden). You’re going to discover a lot of examples of great slot machines which are offered by this developer.

How To Play It

The betting system uses the 25 lines of the game, without giving you an option to reduce the number. You may modify the line stake as you need to though, the range with which you can work being from $0.01 to $2. Should the line stake be set at its maximum value, the largest wager possible in the game is at $50.

The graphics are part of the reasons why I enjoy playing King Kong. The style in which the various symbols were created seems to be inspired by comic books, or by the older movies, from the 30s. The betting system is unusual, but not difficult to use once you get the hang of it. It just looks different from those used in other slots, and it’s not marked with the word Bet.

Special Features

Wild symbols are extremely common in slot machines released these days, and it’s been like this for a very long time. They’re present in King Kong as well, and these symbols actually show you an image of the huge gorilla.

A wild symbol, when it appears on the correct line and there are other regular symbols of the same type present, can substitute for pretty much any regular symbol, trying to get the rest of the combo to complete. These wilds are only used on the middle three reels.

King Kong Goes Ape is the name of a feature which you can trigger by simply landing a wild symbol on the 3rd reel. The wild will expand to occupy the 3rd reel, and you might also get additional wilds for the reels 2 and 4.

The only other feature symbol in use is a scatter which has a logo on it. The King Kong Logo is a symbol that will pay for 2 to 5 randomly placed symbols as much as 100x the wager value.

Should the scatter appear three or more times, it will trigger a bonus game, which allows you to win free spins. The requirement is for the player to choose which planes should be smashed by King Kong. Each missed plane takes you closer to the end of the feature, three misses being required to get there.

On the other hand, each successfully smashed plane will get you more free spins. 1 to 6 planes that are smashed will trigger 15 to 150 free spins, all of them with 2x multipliers for the wins. Players will also be offered a Mystery Prize, in exchange for giving up the free spins.

Maximum Payouts

The big payout of King Kong will give you back 7,500x what the line bet was, so that would mean up to $15,000 cash.

Summary

I think that NextGen did a very good job with King Kong, and even though there are a few competitors for it, I’d recommend you try this one out first. Those 150 free spins with 2x multipliers look way too good.
