The number one dinosaur franchise is back in the slot world, as Microgaming follows up on its Jurassic Park-themed slot machine game with this title.
Jurassic World is, of course, based on the hugely popular fourth film in the Hollywood franchise, and sees all of your favourite dinosaurs, as well as the human stars from that film, make their appearance as decent paying symbols on the reels.
A few features have been adjusted since the first slot, some for the better, some not. Jurassic World is still very much a playable slot machine game, though.
Developers
Jurassic World is very much a Microgaming developed slot. Players will find all manner of Microgaming hallmarks present in the slot, including the 243 ways to win payline structure, plenty of nifty features (some randomly triggered) and a wagering range which is cheap if not flexible. All of that is to be expected since they pretty much come standard with all modern Microgaming slot nowadays.
How to play
This particular slot machine game features a 5-reel, 243 ways to win gaming structure, with players able to adjust the value of their coins, and the number of coins they wish to stake per line.
They cannot, however, alter the number of lines as mentioned. Players will find that bets range from a floor of just 30p per spin on this slot, whilst maximum stakes are capped at £7.20 per spin. This, of course, makes the game even cheaper than its predecessor.

Features
Wild symbols: The Jurassic Park logo acts as a wild symbol in this slot machine game, and it can substitute for all other symbols barring scatters. The symbol also appears stacked up to 10 symbols deep on the reels of this game.
Scatter symbols: This slot machine’s scatter icons can show up as amber, just like they did in the original game. It is worth noting that these symbols can do so much more than just dish out scattered wins, though. Naturally, you will need 3 to trigger a free spins bonus. If you are only able to land 2 such symbols on the reels they will become wild, making them far more useful in Jurassic World than in other slot machine games.
Free spins bonus: There are three free spin features in this slot, and which one you get is down to dumb luck. In the Gyrosphere Valley bonus, players can pocket 10 free spins, with a multiplier increasing on each non-winning spin.
The Creation Lab bonus promises 10 free spins with Microgaming’s Rolling Reels feature giving you chances to bag multiple wins on a single spin. Meanwhile, the Raptor Den bonus offers 10 free spins with all scattered acting as sticky wilds until they form part of a winning combination.
Indominus feature: The star of Jurassic World has its own bonus feature in this slot. The Indominus Rex bonus can be triggered at random in the base game. When the genetically engineered hybrid does appear, it can offer you a cash prize worth up to 1,000x your total bet.
Maximum pay-outs
It is quite unusual for Microgaming to make their randomly triggered bonus capable of delivering the slot’s non-progressive jackpot, but that certainly appears to be the case in Jurassic World. This method of delivery is – despite it being random – easier to land than lining up 5 specific symbols on a payline, believe it not.
Summary
Jurassic World is certainly an eye-opener. The ability to turn just two (ordinarily useless) scatters into wilds is certainly going to be appreciated by players and fans of the franchise alike.
Yes, a few nifty features (such as T-Rex Alert) from its predecessor have been cut, and although we would have loved to see that feature return in this slot, you won’t get too many complaints given what Jurassic World does offer.
