Theme of The Game

The God of Wealth slot was released by RTG and it offers a theme which is both inspired by the Chinese, their belief in the lucky number 8, and by a god of wealth, a character surrounded by gold coins, ingots and wearing rich clothing.

The Chinese theme is evident as well, both in the background where you have Asian styled buildings and cherry blossoms in the trees, and on the reels, where there are dragons, dragon costumes and number 8s as symbols. Quite a few games have Chinese themes, but I don’t remember any others to offer something based on a god of wealth.

Developer

RTG is one of the old companies in the slot industry, which have a lot of experience and a reputation as creators of good slot machines  and as innovators. They were one of the first developers to offer system-wide progressives, along with multi-player poker.

They’ve been around since 1998, they offer a decent collection of slots, but their design can be somewhat dated unfortunately. They are especially popular today, thanks to their decision to keep allowing US based players to use their casinos.

How To Play It

You are allowed to change the number of active lines, down from the maximum of 25, but you don’t have the option to choose the line bet. Instead, you pick the maximum bet value, which takes into account how many lines were selected. It doesn’t go very high though, reaching $6.25 at most, which means up to $0.25 per line.

It’s one of the better looking slots with a Chinese inspired design. You can see firecrackers on the left and the right side of the reels, Chinese temples, cherry blossoms, gold coins and fortune cookies at the bottom, plus a beautiful oil painting like image with trees and a lake in the background.

The reels also get well designed symbols, all of them with some connection to the theme. The poker cards were replaced here with images of 8 logos.

Special Features

The image of the wild symbol has the God of Wealth on it. It’s easy to recognize, there is no other laughing man with a huge beard and with gold coins and ingots near him. You only have this wild on the 3rd reel, but at least it is capable of doubling prizes when it’s part of a winning combination. The wild can appear on other reels as well while in free spins mode, and if it forms a combo, then it can pay up to 10,000 coins.

The other major symbol found in any slot these days, the scatter, has a Gold Ingot symbol representing it. Get up to five such symbols, and your reward will be a payout of up to 200x the triggering bet, plus access to the free spins.

The free spins begin with a picking feature, where you click on the Gold Ingots that triggered them and you get up to 10 free games from each one. You can have up to 50 free spins from this feature. If a wild symbol appears, all the icons with Ox, Dragon or Tiger images on them will turn into wilds as well.

Maximum Payouts

You don’t pay much to play this game, up to $6.25 only, so the top jackpot is not going to be huge either. At best, expect a 10,000 coins jackpot, which will mean $2,500 cash.

It’s not a bad prize, most slots struggling to offer a 10,000x return on the line bet. A random progressive jackpot is also available, like it is in most RTG slot machines, but its value will not be too far from the slot’s own top prize.

Summary

You get quite a few free spins if you’re lucky, you have 10,000x prizes to go after, it’s a cheap game and the theme is interesting enough. I think there are enough reasons to go after God of Wealth.
