It’s an easy theme to figure out, but not thanks to the symbols that you see on the reels.

The idea is that of a Chinese dragon, with a shrine dedicated to it. The Chinese inspiration for the dragon places the action in the Orient, rather than in the Western world, which has its dragons, with a different design style.

Though you have two symbols that show you a shrine and a dragon, the other symbols are not related to the topic. First of all, there are the four gemstones, colored in teal, blue, green and red.

The others are the five Royals, ranging from the 10 to the Ace. A wild logo completes the list. As you can see, 10 out of 12 symbols don’t have the connection with the dragon or the shrine.

Quickspin has been creating and launching slot machines for a few years now, and I’ve often found myself impressed with the designs of the games that come from them.

It’s not always the case though, and Dragon Shrine I would count among the titles that did better feature wise, but you can generally count on them getting at least one part right. Some of the favorite titles from them include Crystal Queen, Spinions and Titan Thunder, but I’m leaving a lot of others out.

How To Play It

There is nothing complicated about the game’s bets. You have 40 lines that you need to cover, and the game will ask for the total amount that you want to spend, not how much you intend to wager for each one. The minimum value for the wager will be $0.20, while the maximum one will be set to $80.

The game has reels of different sizes. The 1st and 5th reels have 3 symbols each, while the 2nd, 3rd and 4th reels have 4 symbols. The bets are accessed from a single area, and overall the interface is an easy one to use.

Special Features

A gold colored square, with a blue Wild Logo, will be one of the symbols that you will want to watch out for. As a wild, you can count on it to act as a substitute for all sorts of regular symbols that are properly arranged together, and just need one more symbol to form a combination.

The wild can’t help out with the scatters though. On its own, the wild pays up to $800, by forming combinations of its symbols.

The Dragon stacked symbol is another major side of Dragon Shrine. These symbols can appear both regular and stacked sized. You need such a stack of Dragons to occupy the entire 1st reel, which means a total of 3 positions taken over.

If this happens, then the game will trigger 3 Respins, where the wild and the dragon symbols are made sticky until the end of the feature. New symbols of these two types are also locked in place.

The Shrine Bonus is only allowed to appear on the tall reels, the three from the middle. Get all three scatter symbols to be present at the same time, and you win 10 free spins.

One advantage you have here is the fact that combinations form both ways, not just from the left. Another one is that the Dragon stack can trigger the Respins from the 5th reel as well, not just the 1st one.

Maximum Payouts

Unfortunately, the maximum prize that can be obtained from this slot machine will only go up to $800, and that requires a bet of $80 per spin.

Summary

Dragon Shrine comes with good graphics, but I’m not that inspired by its top jackpot, or by the way the dragon theme was implemented.
