Theme of The Game

Clash of Queens is one of the few slot machines that gets a somewhat unique theme, in this case the inspiration being a novel which followed the one with Alice in Wonderland, and which it is called Through the Looking Glass.

While the first novel had playing cards as a focus, here we get a game of chess, which is played by the White and the Red Queens. There is a huge chessboard on which you can see the skyscraper sized pieces, while closer to you there is the set of reels.

Genesis Gaming was founded in 2008 and they have started creating slot machines for the gaming industry immediately. As you will see from Clash of Queens, they don’t shy away from creative slots with cool themes.

They pride themselves with the fact that they are creators of bespoke slot machines which are used by huge manufacturers and operators of this industry. Their games are offered in HTML5, Android, iOS and mobile variants. Expect an entertaining game when you try out a Genesis Gaming title.

How To Play It

Look at the bottom part of the screen, and you will find there the two options that allow you to change the betting value. The number of lines can be taken up to 25, while the bet lets you decide the denomination of the coin that each one gets, and it reaches a top value of $10. You can use a wager of up to $250 each round. The Spin button is the weird looking button from the rightmost position, which looks like a curled tail with two arrows.

It’s a very interesting design, and for the most part the developers got it right. You have the main characters from the novel, including the two queens, the egg shaped Humpty Dumpty or the twins. You also have that impressive background image with the chessboard which the two queens control.
I’m not a fan of the design, even though the theme is one that I’ve often enjoyed in slots from other developers. The quality of some of the symbols is to blame, mostly the ones acting as playing cards, which have a texture which resembles the scales of a dragon.

Special Features

The wild symbol’s use is the standard one, only as a substitute in this case, so you can’t use it to form combinations directly. It also only appears on four reels out of five (the last four). Whenever a wild helps out by landing where needed and acting as a substitute, it will apply a multiplier and double the value of the win.

Scatter symbols are also part of the slot, but their only use is as a way of triggering some cash prizes. Using the image of the Clash of Queens Logo, it pays between 2x and 50x the bet, for two to five symbols.

The coolest feature they have to offer here is the Battle Feature. It involves the two queens, with the White Queen being present on the 5th reel, while the Red Queen is needed on the 1st reel in order to get the feature triggered. You are asked to choose the queen you prefer in the battle that follows, and you get a bonus if she does win it.

The Red Queen brings you 4 free spins if chosen, with an extra 4 free spins awarded if she wins the battle. The 4 free spins will come with random wild reels. 1 to 3 reels can be that way, from the middle three ones.

The White Queen will give you access to a bonus game where you have to pick objects, and if she is the battle’s winner she doubles the prizes for the feature.

Maximum Payouts

Without the wild’s multiplier getting involved, the best payout you can expect will put 750 coins in your account, with a maximum value of $7,500. With the wild, that can double to 1,500 coins, or $15,000. It’s not really an impressive number, which I would’ve expected to be better since we’re dealing with a game that has a standard number of paylines.

Summary

I found the game to be a lot of fun, and I enjoyed playing it, but spinning its reels and betting while hoping at best for a payout of 750 coins is not my idea of trying to get rich.
