The Rift’s action takes place in a universe where magic exists. The rift in question opens up right below the reels, and according to the developers it draws power from the magical objects of the world.
Some of those objects are actually shown on the reels, including a pocket watch with a strange light that’s coming from it, an octopus, a spell book and various coins. It’s not a theme that you could expect to find in too many slot machines, at least I don’t know of any to offer this exact type of look.

Thunderkick is the name of the developer behind this slot machine. It’s not a bad start for the developer, which only has about a dozen or so titles released so far.
They have a good team of designers working for them, as you will find out when you check out the games they’ve released so far. Their titles also tend to be unique in some way, so they’re not just doing the same things that dozens of other developers have done in the past.
How To Play It
The betting area doesn’t look exactly like it would in other slot machines, but it’s not too different from the competition either. You get a Bet section first, where you decide how much you want to spend, within the range of $0.10 to $100 which you’re allowed to use. You just click on the bet value that you want, and that’s it. You click the Spin button, shown in black and white at the far right end of the bottom row, and the game begins.
The graphics are well thought out, and I enjoyed playing the game in part because of them, but I would’ve wanted better chosen symbols. The presence of multiple coins is the part that I didn’t really understand, though the impression was that they’re from different eras.

Special Features
One of the two feature symbols in use, the Wild is useful whenever it appears on a payline together with some matching regular icons. You can form winning combinations out of these symbols alone, or they can combine with others. On their own, they can bring you a jackpot of $3,000. Wilds are only useful when forming combinations on paylines, so scatters don’t get their help.
Rift Spins get triggered whenever the player has two scatter symbols with the slot’s logo, in any position on the reels. This spin has extra wilds present, so you get much better odds of forming a paying combo.
The ideal situation is when you have 3, 4 or 5 game logo scatters though, since that will get you a feature with 10, 15 or 20 free spins. As you play through the free spins, you will get scatters from time to time, and they will be used on the pentagram feature, lighting up different sections. For each three sections which are activated, the game will reward you with 1 sticky wild and 2 additional free spins.

The big payout of The Rift is valued at $3,000. The game shows you the value that you can win in the paytable, the amount changing when you modify the wager. For a $100 total bet, on 17 lines, you get $3,000 at most.
Summary
I’m sure you will find some things to enjoy about The Rift, including its graphics and features, but the top payouts are not high enough unfortunately.
